ELL Guest Speaker

Thank you to Kim Bartell, ELL teacher at Moulton, for your awesome presentation today!  We learned a lot about how to make a difference for students who are learning English.
This video was very powerful for considering the perspective of an ELL student!

In Instructional Technologies this week we learned to use Diigo! This online bookmarking tool has many features that will help keep students organized as they collect websites to use in their future classrooms.  Students were excited about a new way to keep track of digital media!

Week 1 - Individualized Reading

Individualized Reading --- Week one!  We're getting geared up for a great semester of tutoring struggling readers :)  We spent the week connecting with our practicum teachers, visiting Phillips Elementary to see their data wall, digging into our existing content knowledge about teaching reading, and reviewing how to do running records. Although there are lots of questions - we're headed for a great semester!
Practicing running records!

Teaching is the most important thing!

I'm passionate about teaching kids to read!  I hope to inspire future teachers to integrate technology in their teaching. I also enjoy thinking about the identity development of preservice teachers and getting them to consider themselves and what influence who they are as people might have on their teaching.

I started this blog as a place to post thoughts and updates about the classes that I teach and other things of interest.  We'll see where it goes and what becomes of it! :)
